The Nigerian Association of Evaluators (NAE) governance is coordinated by the Board of Trustees. Currently there are eight members of the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman OFR, CON

Chairman, Board of Trustees, Nigerian Association of Evaluators

Dr. Shamsuddeen Usman, OFR, CON, is currently the Chairman/CEO of Susman & Associates (S&A). He has BSc (ABU- Zaria), MSc, and PhD (London School of Economics) in Economics. He is also a fellow of the Nigerian Economic Society, Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

His firm, Susman & Associates (S&A), was registered in September 2013, as a consultancy firm, providing advisory services in economic, financial and management matters. It also seeks to enhance the link between public policy and private sector response and to help to achieve greater efficiency in overall public sector management. Since its establishment, S&A has exhibited a high degree of professionalism in its approach to business and development services, and has developed Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) systems for the North Eastern States collectively, Lagos State and currently, Bauchi State.

Some positions held by him include: Hon. Minister of National Planning, 2009 – 2013; Hon. Minister of Finance, 2007 – 2009; Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, 1999 – 2007; Managing Director, NAL Merchant Bank, 1995 – 1999. Some of Nigeria’s key, long-term National Plans such as the Nigeria Vision 20:2020 and the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan are credited to him. He currently sits on or Chairs the Boards of a significant number of formidable companies.

Ms. Lola Visser – Mabogunje

Ms Lola Visser-Mabogunje a Nigerian/Dutch citizen is a Board Member/Secretary to the Board of the Nigerian Association of Evaluators (NAE). She has an MSc. in Development Management. She is Development Management Practitioner, with in-depth knowledge and vast work experience in Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Policy and Planning, Strategic Management, Organizational Development and Institutional Strengthening.

Lola has over 20 years’ experience in Performance Monitoring and Evaluation, working on a variety of initiatives in Europe and the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Member States in diverse sectors: agriculture, trade, investment, infrastructure (industry, rural transportation energy), health and governance.

She is also a Board Member of the Society for Monitoring and Evaluation, Nigeria (SMEAN), a member of the European Evaluation Association (EES), Dutch Evaluation Association (VIDE) and the International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS). Lola is also a member of Chartered Management Institute (CMI) United Kingdom and one of its Goodwill Ambassador. She was a Board Member of the Nigerians In Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Europe, and she continues to be a vibrant member of the Organisation.

Lola started her monitoring and evaluation carrier at the ACP-EU Centre Technique de Cooperation Agricole et Rurale (CTA) in The Netherlands. At one time she was the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for the UNDP Democratic Governance for Development Project (DGD). Later she moved on to become the Senior Technical Adviser (Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation) to the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment (Mr. Olusegun Aganga). Most recently, she was the Deputy Team Leader/Key Expert on Policy, Monitoring and Evaluation on the EU Support to Federal Governance Reform Programme (SUFEGOR).

Zakari Mohammed Zakari

Zakari Zakariya is an independent international development consultant with emphasis on Monitoring and Evaluation. Zakari, a result-oriented learning and assessment specialist, has served most recently as Data Quality Assessment Specialist with IBTCI in Bangladesh on USAID’s Accelerated Capacity for Monitoring and Evaluation Project. Previously, he served as Deputy Chief of Party of USAID’s Monitoring and Evaluation Management Services project (in both rounds I and II) in Nigeria, a project that provided technical support in performance monitoring, work planning and data quality assessment to USAID and its implementing partners; trained USAID and partner staff in critical aspects of performance management; conducted project evaluations and cross-cutting program assessments, and communicated the results to advance organizational learning; and managed two databases designed to capture, compile and report performance by USAID’s implementing partners.

Zakari’s skills include the ability to multi-task, stay organized and adjust to different work conditions in a fast and timely fashion. They also include being dependable, organized and observant with the ability to pay close to attention to detail. He has an influential personality and has successfully worked in various multi-cultural environments. He possesses strong oral and written communication skills in English with the ability to convey information clearly and succinctly.

Prof. Olubunmi Abayomi Omotesho

Olubunmi Abayomi Omotesho was appointed Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Ilorin in October 2000. He holds BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Agricultural Economics all from The University of Ibadan. He has more than 150 publications to his credit.

He has served the University of Ilorin in various capacities including, Head of Department (1999-2008), Dean of Agriculture (2008-2012), Dean of Student Affairs (2012-2016), Director of Academic Planning (2016-2019). Professor Omotesho also represented Senate on the University of Ilorin Governing Council (2009-2013). Since the year 2000, he has served as External Examiner and Assessor to many Universities in and outside Nigeria.

On a professional level, he has consulted for the World Bank, Africa Development Bank, International Food and Policy Research Institute, Federal and State Governments. He is a member of the N-Power Agro Steering Committee. He is also a member of the Agricultural Science Group of the EU/AU Tuning Africa Project. Professor Omotesho belongs to many professional associations locally and Internationally.
