1. Introduction

The Nigerian Association of Evaluators (NAE) is the umbrella body/ coordinating organ for all Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Associations and individual consultants in Nigeria. The Association is dedicated to the advancement of professional evaluation practice and use in terms of knowledge and techniques according to international best practices. Its primary aim is to advance professional evaluation practice in Nigeria and also essentially to interact with international evaluation bodies with a focus on learning and dissemination of knowledge.

The NAE is non-partisan and not in any way involved in, or supports any activity deemed to have a partisan political connotation. It is a non-profit, non-governmental legal entity and this, exempts it from any form of control by individuals, government and other agencies beyond that which is allowed by the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990, Part C.

The NAE is a product of a strong collaboration between the National Monitoring and Evaluation office of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Planning (MBNP), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations’ Population Fund (UNFPA). The financial and technical support of these partners ensured the actualization of the Association, which became fully registered in 2018 with an interim Executive Council overseeing its operations.
